Future Band Director Scholarship Application Information


Each year the Iota chapter of the national band fraternity, Phi Beta Mu, is pleased to award a scholar-ship in the amount of $250.00 to a deserving Kansas Student who is planning to become a band
director.


The requirements for receiving this scholarship are:

High School Senior
1. The student must currently be in good standing in their high school band.
2. The student must show evidence of enrolling in a four-year college/university in the state of Kansas and take course work towards a music education degree with a desire to become a band director.
3. The student must complete the entire application and return it by the deadline


College or University Instrumental Music Education Major
1. The student must currently be in good standing in their Degree Program.
2. The student must be actively involved in the band program of their school.
3. If available the student should be a member of their CMENC chapter.
4. The student must complete the entire application and return it by the deadline.

On July 16, 2010, Darrian Wannow, a graduate of Skyline High School received a $250 Future Band Director Scholarship from the Kanasas Chapter of Phi Beta Mu, International Bandmasters Fraternity. The scholarship was presented by her High School band director, Bob Bitter, during the annual luncheon at the Kansas Bandmasters Association Convention at the Marriott Hotel in Wichita, Kansas. Pictured are Darrian, Mr. Bitter, and Ellen Kerr, President of the Iota Chapter of BM. Darrian will be attending Bethany College in Lindsborg this fall majoring in music education.
